Chatra: A group of Naxals set on fire vehicles engaged in coal loading near the Bachra railway sidings under the Kol Nagri Piparwar police station of the district.
According to the sources, the Naxalites after arriving on the site started firing rapidly. On hearing gunshots, CCL personnel and unorganized labourers working in Bachra rail siding ran away from the spot, after which the Naxals set the vehicles parked near-by on fire.
However, police have maintained that they haven't received any official confirmation to prove that Naxals were behind the incident.
On being informed, Tandwa SDPO Ashutosh Satyam reached the scene with the police team and tried to extinguish the fire.
SP Rishabha Jha and ASP Abhiyan Nigam Prasad have also rushed to the spot and further details are awaited.
The incident has sparked panic among locals.
The SP said that information has been received about the burning of vehicles. "Every aspect of the incident is being investigated. It is too early to tell whether the incident has been carried out by the Naxalites or by the criminals. If sources are to be believed, the PLFI Naxalites are suspected of carrying out the incident, because in the past also the PLFI Naxalites had spread panic by throwing bombs earlier on a warehouse," said SP.
