New Delhi: Former Union Minister and Hazaribagh BJP MP Jayant Sinha has said that the Centre is battling the Corona crisis on a war footing. The central government is helping the states to manage the crisis of oxygen cylinders, ventilators, and essential medicines. During an interview with ETV Bharat, he spoke on several issues.
On PM Modi's role in the crisis
He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi is monitoring the ongoing Covid crisis keenly. The central government was preparing for the second wave of the coronavirus even after the end of the first phase. He also wants the opposition to play a constructive role and help the general public. Praising the Prime Minister, he said that the PM was working to contain phase 2 of the Covid crisis even during his election rallies in West Bengal.

The current situation in Jharkhand
The 58-year-old former Minister of State for Finance commented on his home state Jharkhand's corona situation.
He said that the lockdown imposed by Jharkhand between 22 to 29 April will end the chain of infection in the state. However, taking a potshot at the Hemant Soren led state government, he said that the state has failed and its entire health sector has collapsed. There is a shortage of beds in hospitals and oxygen cylinders. Even the test reports are taking 5-6 days. He further alleged that the state government has not prepared for the second phase of the Covid and is now alleging that the Centre is not providing any help.
Update of his constituency
Sinha informed that he has established help centres in Hazaribagh and Ramgarh districts. He is trying to add more oxygen equipped beds in these two districts. He is also in regular contact with various private hospital owners and doctors within the region. He has also increased the pace of vaccination drive in hospitals of Hazaribagh.

On West Bengal elections
Speaking on West Bengal elections, Jayant Sinha added that BJP is going to form the government in the state with a full majority. He believes that the ruling TMC will lose the elections badly due to the popularity wave of the BJP. West Bengal's development will also get fast-tracked under BJP's rule.
On his father leaving BJP and joining TMC
On the question of his father and veteran BJP leader Yashwant Sinha leaving the party and joining TMC, he said that in a democracy every leader has the right to join any political party.
