4-year-old buried alive in Jharkhand, kin alleges murder

A four-year-old baby boy was found buried alive in Banabira village in Jharkhand. However, the parents of the deceased child alleged that their child has lost his life due to the negligence of the JCB driver and the contractor, who were working there.

Simdega (Jharkhand): A four-year-old boy was allegedly buried alive at Banabira village under Mufassil police limits in Jharkhand's Simdega on Monday after a mound of earth caved in on him.

Meanwhile, the deceased, Ankit's parents alleged that their child has lost his life due to the negligence of the JCB driver and the contractor.

According to complainants, the incident took place at around 3 PM on Monday when Ankit was playing near his house. The child was buried alive inside the ground as the mound of earth caved in on him and he died due to asphyxiation.

Speaking to ETV Bharat, deceased's mother Mariyam Ekka alleged," My son lost his life due to the negligence of the JCB driver and the contractor, who were working at the spot for many days. My child was playing near the JCB machine. After a mound of earth caved in on him, he was buried alive inside the ground. They deliberately killed my son and escaped from the spot after the incident. The culprits should be punished."

"When Ankit was playing near the house. At the same time, cabling was being done for the past few days. Suddenly the JCB driver, showing great carelessness, put mud on the child. Due to which the child got buried in the soil and died of suffocation," a local said.

However, the family received information about the incident on Tuesday morning.

On being informed by the locals, police rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation. The boy was pulled out and locals took him to the nearby hospital where doctors pronounced him 'brought dead'.

The JCB driver and the contractor have been absconding since Monday. The police have seized the JCB and started an investigation into the matter. Not even a single arrest has been made in this case even after 30 hours have passed since the matter came to light, sources said.

Ankit's aunty says that the 4-year-old child was killed by the JCB driver and the Munshi together. At the same time, Ankit's mother Maryam has appealed to the District Administration for justice on the matter. She said that her child had been murdered, the culprits should get severe punishment.

Despite the passage of time, no assistance or compensation amount has been provided to the victim's family. The situation of the victim’s family is quite pathetic. At the same time, no company official even tried to meet the victim's family.

On getting information about the incident, Simdega MLA Bhushan Bada reached Banabira to meet the victim's family. He has said that strict action should be taken against the culprits. Apart from this, the MLA has also assured all possible help to the family.
