J&K: Seven killed, one injured in cruiser vehicle accident in Kishtwar

Acident in Kishtwar

Kishtwar: At least seven workers were killed while another was critically injured after a cruiser vehicle of the Pakal Dul Hydro Electric Project they were traveling in met with an accident in J&K's Kishtwar on Wednesday morning, officials said. According to officials, the accident was reported near Dangduru Dam construction site. "7 people died, 1critically injured. The injured is being shifted to District HospitalKishtwar," said Deputy Commissioner of Kishtwar Dr Devansh Yadav.

He added that all possible help as per the requirement is being provided. As per local inputs, the accident took place in remote Dangdooru village at around 8:30 am when the cruiser vehicle bearing registration number JK06 3095 skidded off the road and plunged into a 300 ft gorge.

The vehicle was carrying the workers, from their residences in Dachan to the construction site when the accident. According to local inputs, the deceased were identified as Sudesh Kumar son of Karam Chand, a resident of Kutwara Kastigarh Doda, Akhter Hussain son of Mohd Abass of Pingrari Dachhan, Abdul Rasheed son of Aziz Mohd of Bunjwar Kishtwar, Mubshar Ahmed, Itva, Rahul and Karan.

Soon after the accident, a major rescue operation was launched by the authorities and the bodies were moved to the nearby government hospital for postmortem examination. Union Minister of State for Science and Technology, Dr Jitendra Singh who came to know about the accident called up the DC.

He inquired with Yadav about the bereaved and ordered the administration to help the victims. "7 persons dead, 1critically injured. Injured are being shifted to District Hospital Kishtwar or GMC Doda as per requirement. All possible help, as required, will be provided," the Union Minister said in a statement.
