Militants open fire on CRPF convoy in J-K's Budgam, no casualties

Srinagar: Militants opened fire on a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) convoy in Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday, officials said.

A search operation for unknown gunmen is underway in the area, as per latest details.

There were no casualties in the incident, they said.

The CRPF convoy was on its way to Srinagar from Chadoora area in Budgam. The militants opened fire on the convoy in Kralpora, the officials said.

There were bullet marks on the vehicles, said CRPF officer. He added that they did not resort to any aerial firing.

However, the police issued a statement rejecting CRPF's version. According to police, some miscreants threw stones on the forces, after which the CRPF convoy fired shots into the air to disperse the stone pelters.
