Srinagar: President Ram Nath Kovind is scheduled for a three-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory and Ladakh Union Territory on Sunday. In the wake of the President's visit security measures have been beefed up in Srinagar city.
Yesterday, Jammu and Kashmir Traffic police have informed the general public that traffic would be diverted from Gupkar road. Today, no vehicle is being allowed to proceed on Gupkar Road without being searched.
According to sources, President Kovind will arrive in Srinagar tomorrow and will attend the convocation of Kashmir University at the Sher-e-Kashmir International Convocation Center (SKICC) on the banks of Dal lake. On Monday, he will fly to Ladakh to attend the 22nd-anniversary celebrations of Kargil Vijay Diwas.

Interestingly, the President was scheduled to attend the event in 2019, but he could not due to bad weather conditions at Srinagar Airport.
This is not the first time the president has visited Ladakh. Earlier in 2017, he visited Ladakh and met with stationed military personnel.
