British couple reached Shimla to collect 106 year old birth certificate

Julian, a British woman visited Shimla and collected her mother's 106-year-old birth certificate. According to the record, Julian's mother was born in Shimla on 22 September 1914. Julian said that she will frame this birth certificate of her mother and keep it as a memory.

Himachal Pradesh's Shimla was the summer capital during the British rule in India, every year many British citizens come to Shimla, to collect birth and death certificates of their ancestors.

Julian, a resident of Southampton city of England arrived in Shimla with her husband and reached Shimla Municipal Corporation to take her mother's birth certificate. Her mother was born 106 years ago in 1914.

Julian got emotional after collecting her mother's birth certificate. Julian's maternal grandfather was a captain and he also owned a house in Shimla. Julian said that her mother and grandfather had lived in Shimla for a long time.

Julian reached out to the Joint Commissioner of Municipal Corporation Ajit Bhardwaj and asked for her mother's birth certificate. The health department of the corporation gave her the birth certificate of her mother, which was handwritten.

Julian and her husband were surprised to see the handwritten record which was 106 years old.

According to the record, Julian's mother was born in Shimla on 22 September, 1914. She said that she will frame this birth certificate of her mother and keep it as a memory.

Municipal Corporation Joint Commissioner Ajit Bhardwaj said that every year people from England come to Shimla to collect birth and death certificates of their families.

Shimla Municipal Corporation has kept a record of people from 1870 till date. "Last Saturday, Julian of the town of Southampton, England arrived at the corporation office to collect her mother's birth certificate and was handed over her mother's birth certificate," he said.
