Faridabad: Even though Haryana's Faridabad is one of the 100 smart cities being built in the country, the roads of the area tell a different tale.
Bata Chowk, the city's busiest junction from where thousands come and go is in a dilapidated condition with roads covered with potholes.
Seven years ago, on February 10, 2014, when Manoj Wadhwa was crossing from the junction on his two-wheeler with his wife and son, their vehicle slipped and fell due to a pothole.
In the accident, Manoj's wife who fell on the road was then hit by another vehicle that ran away. His son, Ankit, however, died on the spot.
Manoj says he was shocked by the death of his son and the critical condition of his wife. Meanwhile, the police made the cases of hit and run, but he wanted to punish the real people responsible, he wanted to see those people standing in the court.
Not only them, Manoj also wanted to make those answerable because of whose negligence that pit was there.

Even after so many years, Manoj is still fighting the legal battle in an unrelinquishing spirit to bring justice to his son.
Besides the legal battle, he is also campaigning to make the city pit free. Manoj wants to make the city pit-free so that no innocent loses his life anymore in accidents.
For the same reason, on Friday, Manoj reached Bata Chowk with his colleagues and got various potholes filled in the presence of the policemen.
