Haryana Congress MLAs meet Vivek Bansal, seek organisational changes

The MLAs, considered to be close aides of former chief minister Bhupinder Hooda, came out openly against the current Congress state president Selja Kumari, demanding a change in leadership.

New Delhi: Amid the reports of factionalism in Haryana Congress, a group of MLAs reached the national capital to have a meeting with the party's state in-charge Vivek Bansal. Nineteen Haryana Congress MLAs held a meeting with Bansal at the party headquarters in Delhi, which lasted for over an hour.

According to sources, these MLAs considered to be close aides of former chief minister Bhupinder Hooda, came out openly against the current Congress state president Selja Kumari, demanding a change in leadership. However, Bansal chose not to comment on the matter after the meeting.

When asked what has been discussed in the meeting today, Bansal said to ETV Bharat, "Municipal elections and Panchayat elections have been announced. MLAs are the pillars of any organization. We can't move ahead without knowing their views. I met them before preparing a strategy for the upcoming elections so that we can apprise the party high command about it."

MLAs who have met Vivek Bansal today include, Raghubir Kadyan, Jagbir Malik, Aftab Ahmed, Geeta Bhukkal, Dharam Singh Chhokar, Indu Raj Narwal and many others. Apart from the upcoming elections, organisational changes at the block and district level were also discussed in the meeting.

Speaking over the matter, the Haryana Congress in-charge said, "I agree that it has been pending for a very long time. We are taking our leaders views on it as well. We don't want to take decisions in a hurry for which we will have to regret later."

For organisational expansion, Selja Kumari has sought a list of suggestions from prominent state leaders for the appointments at block and district levels.
