Karnal: A farmer in Haryana's Karnal was allegedly tied to a tree and was brutally thrashed by two men on the suspicion of theft on Saturday. The incident took place in the Bharal village of Gharaunda town and on getting informed, police reached the spot and rushed the farmer to a local hospital from where he was referred to Kalpana Chawla Medical College. According to police, Nawab and his partner visited Iqbal's house in the wee hours on Saturday and took him to an isolated location.
The two men assaulted Iqbal by hanging him upside down from a tree and thrashing him badly for several hours. Family members of Iqbal also alleged that the two men tortured him by putting him into the water and electrocuting him. Gharaunda police station in-charge Mohan Lal informed that Iqbal was assaulted on suspicion of stealing a part of a tractor. "He was unconscious when we reached the spot. Iqbal is currently under treatment. Hunt is on to nab the absconding accused," Mohan Lal said.
A case has been registered and further investigation into the matter is underway.
