Vadodara: Due to the flood situation in Vadodara, people are trapped in the low lying areas of the city. The city has been receiving continuous rain since 31st of July.
After days of been trapped in the low-lying areas, people have now begun to receive help.
The Umargam Taluka received 25mm rainfall in between 6am to 2pm on Sunday. Whereas other areas like Kaprada Taluka, Dharampur, Pardi, Valsad, and Vapi Taluka too received heavy rainfall.
Ketan Inamdar, the MLA of Savli and his fellow workers on Sunday, distributed food packets and drinking water among the flood victims.
Many people are trapped in a school in Sama area and other low lying areas in the city. The food packets are being delivered to them on regular intervals. But the constant rain in the area is offering no relief to them.
The government has however promised regular supply of food packets, drinking water and milk packets until the flood water recedes.
A large number of people visited tyhe Daman Ganga river banks to watch the turbulent flow of water in the river. The government has thus issued an alert in the area to avoid any accident. Also, police personnels have been deployed in the area for any emergency, if it arises.
The water level is Madhuban dam in Silvassa is already 74.65 metres, which is way above the danger level. As a result, 2.35 lakh cusecs of water has been released into the Damn Ganga river.
If the rainfall continues for long, more water might be released into it, making the situation worse.
