New Delhi: Congress party, on Thursday, slammed the BJP-led Central Government for keeping "mum" over the reported transgressions of Chinese troops into the Indian territory, by saying, "This government is shrouded in secrecy, falsehood and misinformation."
"Most of today's newspapers carry satellite images, quotes from ex-Army Generals and observations from security experts wherein we can clearly see that instead of withdrawing, People's Liberation Army of China has come back on Patrolling Point-14 and started putting tents in Galwan Valley again," alleged Congress chief spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala, while addressing a virtual press briefing.
He further added, "We also see that the Chinese Army has in Pangong Tso Lake, finger-4 to finger-8 have again brought in their military equipment and started making bunkers. In Eastern Ladakh sector, a lot of equipment, armoured vehicles and approximately 10,000 PLA soldiers have been deployed. Chinese Army has also come in Depsang sector and Daulat Beg Oldi road.
"While quoting the media reports and satellite imageries, Congress questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the contradiction in Government's statements over the matter and the current situation at the Indo-China border. What is he trying to hide? Did PM mislead people in the All Party Meeting? Are the Chinese troops trying to make fresh incursions? Has the PM or Defense Minister taken notice of these fresh incursions?" asked Surjewala.
The Congress leader also accused PM Modi of "undermining the morale" of Indian Army, by giving contradictory remarks, who valiantly pushed the Chinese troops from our territory.
When asked about BJP's allegations that the Chinese embassy had funded the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation in the year 2005, Surjewala replied, "Please stop living in 2005 and start answering the question of 2020. Rather than fighting with Congress, BJP should be more focused on giving a reply to China."
