Animal markets must be allowed to function with Covid-19 precautions: Jamiat

Abid Qasmi, head, Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind (Delhi unit) has urged Delhi government to make proper security arrangements in view of 'Eid al-Adha' and 'Raksha Bandhan' - the festivals to be celebrated on August one and three respectively.

New Delhi: Urging administration to make necessary security arrangements for the upcoming festivals of 'Eid al-Adha' and 'Raksha Bandhan', director, prominent Muslim body Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind (Delhi unit) Abid Qasmi has said that the animal markets must be allowed to function in view of the festival of the sacrifice as any other market with required Covid-19 precautions.

Interacting with the ETV Bharat here, Qasmi said he has heard people complaining against police not allowing them to organise their animal markets. "These are also markets like any other market and should be allowed to be organised especially in view of the 'Eid al-Adha', when Muslims have to offer their sacrifice," he said, adding that necessary precautions must be taken by all concerned while organising suck markets.

He also urged the administration to help the riot affected people of the Muslim community in the national capital as many of the affected familes are yet to receive any compensation announced by the government.

"There are people who are yet to get any help. They should be provided the required help immediately," Qasmi said. He also extended good wishes to the people for the upcoming festivals.
