Jafrabad (Delhi): Residences and establishments in North-East Delhi have remained shuttered down on Wednesday, with many locals opting to seek refuge from the escalating violence in others parts of the national capital.
Latest reports have indicated that people have moved to the residences of their friends and acquaintances, while others left for their native places, temporarily.
On Tuesday night, people were seen moving in masses as a precautionary measure. Public and private transport remained largely affected with the brunt, of the prevailing situation, falling on auto-rickshaw drivers.
"I drive a rented auto-rickshaw in North-East Delhi. People have been horrified by the violence occurring in the area for the last two days. I am therefore moving to Anand Vihar for some time so that I can at least stay safe," Ajay, an auto-rickshaw driver, said.
Youngsters, currently employed in Delhi, had also moved back to their homes (in other states) until situations improve.
A 12-year-old boy, who had come to visit his brothers in Delhi said: "I have been here for the last 12 days, but the last two days have been worse. We want to be safe and are therefore moving from here. But, we will come back once the situation returns to normal."
