New Delhi: An Army soldier posted in the DRDO complex of Delhi's Civil Lines area shot himself dead with his own service rifle on Tuesday.
Harjeet Singh (51) was posted as a guard at the Audio complex for a long time.
He had just ended his duty for the day while the incident took place.
According to sources, "While going to submit his rifle on Tuesday morning at about 10 am, he stopped at a park along the way where he shot himself."
Singh hails from Punjab's Gurdaspur and none of his family members has arrived so far.
His body will be handed over to them once they reach Delhi.
The reason for the suicide is not yet known.
The police are waiting for the family to arrive so that they could explore the angle of mental pressure or stress behind the death of Harjeet Singh.
Further investigation in the case is underway.
