Delhi: Bihar Congress president Madan Mohan Jha on Sunday paid his last respects to three-time Delhi Chief Minister and Congress stalwart Sheila Dikshit and said that the void left by her demise would be impossible to fill.
Speaking exclusively to ETV Bharat, Jha said, "I believe that it is not possible to fill the void left by the demise of Sheila Dikshit, be it in the context of Congress party or the entire country."
Praising the two-time Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president for her work, Jha said, "She has contributed immensely in the development of Delhi. She presented a model of development in Delhi setting an example for the rest of the states in the country. She had been elected three times as the Chief Minister of Delhi and had also served as the Governor of Kerala. I believe that she had done justice with each and every portfolio."
"Sheila Dikshit served as a pillar of strength in the Congress party," Jha added.
Dikshit breathed her last at 3.55 pm at Fortis Escorts Heart Institute, doctors said. She was brought to the hospital Saturday morning in a "critical condition with cardiac arrest", a Fortis Escorts statement said.
Her body was kept at her Nizamuddin East residence, where politicians cutting across party lines, visited to pay their last respects.
Jha also mourned the death of Ram Chandra Paswan, younger brother of Union minister and Lok Janshakti Party leader Ram Vilas Paswan, who passed away on Sunday due to cardiac arrest.
