New Delhi: Taking suo motu cognizance of the Rohini Court firing case on Thursday, Delhi High Court stated that there is a need for the deployment of adequate police forces in all the lower courts of the national capital.
A bench headed by Chief Justice DN Patel has issued a notice to the Delhi Police, the Bar Council of India and the Delhi Government and sought their suggestions by October 5.
The bench stated "It is a serious matter. This needs immediate attention. Whenever police checked advocates they opposed it because they are in a hurry not because they don't want to be checked, so this issue should also be considered. There is a need for the deployment of adequate police forces in the court premises. Ample number of CCTVs should also be installed functioning round-the-clock,"
"Hi-tech metal detectors and baggage scanners should be installed. Under vehicle surveillance system-permanent and portable applications- effectively scan and inspect the undercarriage of vehicle for suspicious objects & more- should also be installed. Proper training to the police deployed in the court premises," court added.
The bench also directed all parties to inform Delhi Police Commissioner about their suggestions.
Meanwhile, advocate Ajayendra Sangwan, appearing for the Delhi Bar Council, said that the security in the lower courts of Delhi should be similar to that of the Supreme Court.
