New Delhi: Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri on Tuesday launched Swacch Survekshan 2020.
This is the fifth edition of the annual cleanliness survey conducted by the Centre.
Swacch Survekshan 2020 is particularly significant since it gives us the opportunity to reaffirm once again our promise for a clean, garbage-free and sanitary 'New India'.
"It will not only sustain the gains that we have made under Swachh Bharat Mission but also provide a roadmap to institutionalize the concept of total Swachhata," Puri said.
He said that ever since the mission was started in 2015, behavioural change was a major challenge for his ministry but it is not the case now. Secretary in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs Durga Shankar Mishra said that every year the Swachh Survekshan is redesigned innovatively to ensure that the process becomes more and more robust with focus on sustaining the changed behaviour.
The Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry has also launched the Swachh Nagar Mobile App. This app, features such as tracking of waste collection by ULBs through route and vehicle monitoring.
