New Delhi: As the death toll is increasing day by day in the national capital, Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain on Sunday said that the government is trying to reduce the death rate and the COVID situation in Delhi is better now.
As per the Health Bulletin on 20 August, 22 people died due to coronavirus in Delhi within 24 hours.
If we look at the last 10 days data, 131 people have lost their lives in Delhi due to coronavirus, while 70 of these deaths have occurred in the last five days.
Speaking to media persons here, Jain said, "The infection rate, which was once around 35 per cent in June, has now come down to 7 per cent. But the cases of death due to coronavirus are still worrying. Although these figures are lower than in June, still 10-20 people are dying every day.
"1,250 new Covid-19 positive cases 1,082 recoveries and 13 deaths have been recorded in Delhi in the last 24 hours. There are presently 11,426 active cases in the national capital,” Jain said.
He said that the government is trying to reduce the COVID-19 death rate.
"The aim was to ensure that there are no deaths due to COVID but now we are trying to minimise the death rate. The average ambulance arrival time has also reduced to 18 per cent," he said further.
"Recently, the Delhi government has also formed four committees to give suggestions to prevent cases of deaths due to coronavirus in four major COVID-19 hospitals of Delhi. Apart from this, arrangements were made to ensure that the patients do not have to wait much longer in hospitals," Jain added.
