New Delhi: Around the anniversary of the Quit India Movement, at least 31 parties came together and initiated a pan-India movement, asking to bring back ballot boxes instead of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) in New Delhi.
31 parties including AIPWA, AISA, ANHAD, All India Dalit Bachao Andolan, and Bahujan Azad Party participated in the EVM protest rally held in Delhi.
President of JNU Students Union N Sai Balaji said, "There were certain difficulties with EVMs when the general elections were held in 2019. Many RTIs were filed but not answered. This movement is to replace e-voting."
We are requesting a ballot system. It is up to the EC (Election Commission) to take the decision, added protesters.
Rallies were also conducted in cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Kolkata, Kanpur and Nagpur.
