New Delhi: Ever since BJP Government has decided to modify Article 370, split is wide open in Congress.
Senior Congress Leader and Rajya Sabha member Bhubaneswar Kalita on Monday resigned from the Upper House and subsequently, he tendered his resignation from the primary membership of the party.
"I submitted my resignation, as being a Congress member I could not oppose the party stand over Article 370, so I resigned from the Rajya Sabha. And when I did not get any response from the party, I resigned from the Congress as well," said Kalita in an exclusive interview to ETV Bharat.
Kalita also criticised CLP leader in the Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary over his remarks that Kashmir is not an internal matter of India.
"When Donald Trump offered to mediate, we opposed it. Kashmir is always India's internal matter," said Kalita.
The senior Congress leader said that the party is in a very bad shape now. "Everybody thinks themselves as party chief because it does not have any party president. If it continues in this way, Congress will be nowhere in future," said Kalita.
The resignation given by Kalita might a have a big impact in Congress as Kalita was in the party since 1984.
Apart from being MP in both the Houses of the Parliament representing Congress, Kalita was once a state minister during Congress regime in Assam.
