New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is likely to raise the issue of illegal migrants with Bangladesh minister Asaduzzaman Khan when the later will visit India on August 7.
Home Ministry sources told ETV Bharat, Shah will also discuss some other important bilateral issues during his talks with his Bangladesh counterpart.
This will be the first interaction between Shah and a foreign leader after the former assumed the charge as Home Minister of India two months ago.
The two leaders are expected to discuss anti-terror cooperation between the nations. This point, officials believe is very vital, following the arrest of terrorists of Bangladesh-based Jamaat ul Mujahiddin from different parts of India.
Sources also said that issues like the movement of illegal migrants, smuggling of cattle, arms and ammunition, FICN, and a few other factors are also to be discussed between the two sides.
A high-level ministerial team would accompany both the ministers during the talks.
The meeting between Shah and Asaduzzaman assumes significance in view of the fact that India is planning to publish the final National Register of Citizen (NRC) shortly to detect and identify the "foreigners".
