At least 29 staff members of Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital in Delhi have tested positive for coronavirus. These include doctors, nurses and other health care staff.

New Delhi: At least 29 healthcare workers, including doctors, nurses, paramedics and other staff of Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital here have tested positive for COVID-19, as per a report of National Institute of Biologicals, Noida.

The results of four other cases are "presumptive positive", the report said.

Earlier, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said the lockdown in Delhi will not be relaxed beyond what the Union home ministry has suggested in its guidelines, added that his government's focus is on bringing down COVID-19 infections in the city.

Addressing an online media briefing, the chief minister said, "We are going through difficult times. We will have to continue our efforts to reduce the number of COVID-19 infections in Delhi."

He said his government was implementing the Centre's guidelines on opening of neighbourhood and standalone shops during the lockdown till May 3. No markets and malls will be allowed to open in the national capital and all shops in COVID-19 containment zones will remain shut, he added.

The total number of positive coronavirus cases across the country has reached 26,917, including 20,177 active cases.

So far, 5,913 patients have either been cured or discharged, while 826 deaths have been recorded in the country, as per the data provided by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
