Woman allegedly kills infant child before committing suicide in Chhattisgarh's Jashpur

It is believed that the woman had a quarrel with her husband before taking the extreme step in a nearby forest area.

Jashpur: In a shocking incident, a woman allegedly committed suicide after killing her eight-day-old infant child after a quarrel with her husband in Jashpur district of Chhattisgarh on Monday, officials said. The incident has been reported from village Ghughri under Bagicha police station area of the Jashpur district on Monday.

An official said that on Monday morning the people of the village had gone towards the forest. In the forest, the locals saw a child hanging on a tree with a woman hanging on the noose on top of the tree, the official said. Shocked by seeing the two bodies, The villagers wasted no time and soon informed the local police about it.

Soon, a team of Bagicha police rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation. The police recovered the bodies from the forest area and sent them to a local hospital for postmortem. Additional Superintendent of Police Umesh Kashyap while confirming the incident said that the deceased has been identified as Sanmani Bai.

Her husband's name is Charakuram. According to Additional Superintendent of Police Umesh Kashyap, initial investigation into the case has revealed that on Sunday, a day before the bodies were recovered, the deceased had a quarrel with her husband. The argument escalated so much that, Sanmani Bai got angry and left the house on Sunday night.

It is believed that after leaving the house, the woman moved to the nearby forest area where she killed her infant child before committing suicide. Further investigation into the incident is going on.
