Spurious liquor kills three, including Army jawan, in Chhattisgarh

According to official sources, the deceased were identified as Nandlal Kashyap, Paras Ram Sahu and Satish Kashyap. The police have begun an investigation into the incident and the bodies have been sent for post-mortem.

Spurious liquor kills three including one Army jawan in Chhattisgarh

Janjgir–Champa (Chhattisgarh): At least three people, including an Army jawan, died on Monday morning after consuming spurious liquor in Chhattisgarh's Janjgir–Champa district. According to official sources, the deceased were identified as Nandlal Kashyap, Paras Ram Sahu and Satish Kashyap. The police have begun an investigation into the incident and the bodies have been sent for post-mortem.

Sources said that Nandlal Kashyap, one of the deceased was an Army jawan and got married two days ago. As part of the celebrations, villagers were invited for food at Nandlal's house for which the three deceased went out to work and bought a bottle of alcohol on their way and within no time they all became unconscious and fell on the ground. Immediately, villagers informed their family members and they were taken to Nawagarh Community Health Centre. All three were declared brought dead by the doctors. Local police rushed to the spot on receiving the information and started a probe.

In a similar incident, as many as 10 people died and several others were hospitalised after consuming spurious liquor in Villupuram and Chengalpattu districts of Tamil Nadu. According to official sources, out of the 10 deceased, six were from Ekkiyarkuppam near Marakkanam in Villupuram district and two were from Maduranthagam in Chengalpattu district. Inspector General of Police (North) N Kannan said that all 10 victims may have consumed spurious liquor with ethanol-methanol substances in it. It is ironic that deaths due to the consumption of spurious liquor have been reported time and again.
