Ex-minister's daughter-in-law murdered in Chhattisgarh

Former minister DP Dhritlehre's daughter-in-law and 9-year-old granddaughter were found strangled to death at their residence in Chhattisgarh's Raipur district on Sunday.

Raipur: Former cabinet minister in the undivided Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, DP Dhritlehre's daughter-in-law and granddaughter were found dead at their residence in Raipur district on Sunday.

They were identified as Neha and her 9-year-old daughter Ananya.

Additional SP Lakhan Patle said that both were strangled to death and prima facie it seems family rivalry led to the double murder.

He further said the police have detained two persons - Dr Anand Rai, a relative of the victim, and his friend Deepak. Police also said the third suspect is on the run.

However, Neha's family members have accused her husband Tarun Dhritlahre of killing her.

Bedram Mahere, deceased's brother, alleged that Tarun and his friends killed her sister and niece under full planning.

Tarun Dhritlhare lived with his wife and daughter at Satnam Chowk in Raipur. He works as a moneylender and had gone to Simga three days back. On receiving the information, he reached home on Saturday night, following which he is being interrogated by the police.

The police said that the reason for the murder is yet to ascertained and they are investigating the matter from all angles.

It is worth mentioning here that former Minister Late DP Dhritlehre had been Minister in erstwhile Madhya Pradesh government as well as in Chhattisgarh. Under the first Congress government in Chhattisgarh led by the then Chief Minister Ajit Jogi, Dhritlehre, an independent MLA at that time, was allocated Forest department portfolio.
