Man sets himself ablaze after girl rejects him

A man in Chhattisgarh state set fire to himself after a girl he is believed to have loved refused to accept him. The burning man was captured on security cameras as he ran towards a clothes shop where the woman was reportedly working.

Pendra: A Chhattisgarh man on the eve of Valentine's day on Saturday self-immolated after being rejected by a girl who he was pursuing for long.

The whole incident where Sanjay Tirkey doused himself with petrol and light fire was caught on a CCTV.

While burning, he tried to run into a clothes shop, however, the workers there sent him out and tried to put out the fire.

They also called an ambulance and took him to the district hospital where the doctors said he had suffered 40 per cent burn injuries.

Sanjay has been referred to SIIMS Bilaspur after being treated in the district hospital.

The initial investigation by the police states that Sanjay is a resident of Lata village of Bandra police station area.

He fell in love with a female worker from the clothes shop and had been pursuing her for a romantic relationship.

However, the women kept denying due to which, Sanjay took this step.
