New Delhi: Congress communications chief Randeep Singh Surjewala on Tuesday slammed BJP over Home Ministry's notice to Congress president Rahul Gandhi over his citizenship.
"PM Modi has no answer for unemployment, agrarian distress, and black money, that's why he's resorting to the fake narrative through his government's notices to divert attention," he added.
Issuing clarification over Gandhi's citizenship row, he said, "The government kept quiet for 5 years. In 2015, we had responded and told the claim is false. The original certificate of incorporation mentions Rahul Gandhi as an Indian citizen."

Congress general secretary (UP East) and sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also criticised government notice to Congress president over citizenship row and said that her brother is "Indian". She termed it as ridiculous. She further said that the entire nation knows that her brother born and brought up in India.

The Union home ministry has issued a notice to Congress president over his citizenship after receiving a complaint from Rajya Sabha MP Subramanian Swamy. The ministry has asked Rahul Gandhi to respond to the complaint within a fortnight.
