Muzaffarpur: Hitting out at the Congress party for making the promise in its election manifesto to ban right-wing organisation, Bajrang Dal, if the party comes to power in Karnataka, BJP leader and Union minister Giriraj Singh said these were just poll planks. "Those who were talking about imposing a ban on Bajrang Dal, actually they were trying to create division in society. These are vote bank politics. The Congress party is trying to woo Muslims so that they can secure minority vote in the elections."

"Every devotee of Sanatan Dharma will oppose the ban on Bajrang Dal. We will organise protests. We will not allow this to happen in the country," said Singh, adding, "Banning Bajrang Dal is a direct attack on our culture and tradition. Those who want to create a difference in society resorted to such a move. Such things were happening due to political compulsion. They were the people, who grabbed the Muslim vote by adopting minority appeasement policy."

When asked that JDU MP from Nalanda, Kaushalendra Kumar, was also supporting the ban on Bajrang Dal, the Union Minister said, "When bad days come, people start saying such things." On Patna High Court's stay order on caste-based census in Bihar, Singh said, "We did not oppose caste-based census. We were not against it. But, I wanted to know from the Nitish Kumar government or Lalu-Rabri's regime, how many jobs were given to the poor and Dalit family members of the state. The state government should have started the census to find out how many poor and Dalit families received jobs during their tenure."
