After defeat in Bihar elections,Shakti Singh Gohil and Madan Mohan Jha offer resignation

After the poor results in recently concluded Bihar elections, state president of the party Dr Madan Mohan Jha and state in-charge Shakti Singh Gohil tended their resignations. Earlier, senior Congress leader Kapil Sibal said that the party needs to restructure and especially reach out to the masses with a renewed approach and work-frame.

Patna: Bihar Congress In-charge, Shakti Singh Gohil and State President Dr Madan Mohan Jha have resigned from their posts. However, their resignation is not yet accepted by the party high command.

Rajya Sabha MP Shakti Singh Gohil handed over the resignation at the meeting presided over by Congress National General Secretary Venugopal Rao, taking responsibility for the poor performance and defeat of Congress in Bihar elections.

Sonia Gandhi has called both the leaders to Delhi. After Chhath, both leaders will go to Delhi to meet Sonia Gandhi.

According to the sources, the in-charge of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat have also offered their resignations to the party's high command. Congress has not done much better in the by-elections in these states either.

Senior Congress leaders demanded a comprehensive review

Senior leaders of Congress had questioned the leadership regarding the Bihar election result. Several Congress leaders on Wednesday lobbied for a comprehensive review of the party's dismal performance in the recent assembly elections.

Senior leader Kapil Sibal has now advocated for effective action.

Congress General Secretary Tariq Anwar has also said that there should be no complacency about the performance of the party in Bihar elections.

In the assembly elections, the constituent Congress of the Grand Alliance just won 19 seats, while it contested on 70 seats.

Senior RJD leader Shivanand Tiwari and General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya have raised their voice against the dismal performance of the congress party.
