Four criminals looted gold and silver jewellery worth Rs 90 lakh from a jewellery shop in Patna. The criminals posed as customers to fool people and ran away with the ornaments.

Patna: A group of four criminals looted jewellery worth Rs 90 lakh from a jewellery shop in Khagaul police station area here.

The incident took place on Tuesday night when the looters entered the shop posing as customers and asked the storekeepers to show them gold and silver jewellery for a wedding.

They sprayed some toxic chemical on the shop customers and other customers and staff members present there, making them helpless and unable to put up a fight.

When the shop owner Sujeet Kumar initially tried to stop the culprits, they attacked him with a pistol butt.

He has been admitted to a local hospital and treatment is underway.

SP Upendra Sharma reached the spot soon after being informed of the incident. According to the police, the loot was pre-planned.

A search for CCTV footage of the incident as well as the four looters is underway.
