Jhalawar: A five-year-old boy fell into an open borewell in a village in Rajasthan's Jhalawar district on Sunday. A rescue operation is currently underway, police said.
The incident took place in Padla village under Dag police station area of the district when Prahlad (5) was playing with his friends. Prahlad slipped and fell into a 40-foot borewell located near a field. His friends immediately informed his family members and neighbours. After this, the family members along with villagers reached the spot and the administration was informed.
Soon, a team from the Dag police station arrived at the spot and an operation was launched to rescue the minor boy out of the borewell.
Gangdhar Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Chhatrapal Singh said upon information, officials from the police and administration have arrived at the spot and rescue operations are underway. "Our priority is to rescue the boy safely as quickly as possible," Singh said.
The boy's father, Kalu Singh, a farmer, said the borewell was located near the field and it was uncovered so his son accidentally fell into it.
The state government has given clear instructions to cover all the borewells but many still remain uncovered. In the past, there were many incidents of children accidentally falling into open borewells.
