Patna: Tremors of an earthquake of magnitude 5.1 on the Richter scale were felt at 2:52 pm in Patna and several districts in north and central Bihar on Wednesday. No casualties were reported from anywhere, officials said.
The National Centre for Seismology stated that the epicenter of the earthquake was located at Katmandu at a depth of 10 kms below the ground. "Earthquake of Magnitude:5.1, Occurred on 19-10-2022, 14:52:21 IST, Lat: 27.62 & Long: 85.86, Depth: 10 Km ,Location: 53km E of Kathmandu, Nepal," it stated in a tweet.
Earlier on July 31, another earthquake of magnitude 6.0 took place 147 km ESE of Kathmandu, Nepal at 8.13 am IST around Martim Birta of Khotang district, according to the National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Centre (NEMRC). The depth of the epicentre was monitored at 10 km in eastern Nepal, determined to be at 27.14 degrees North latitude and 86.67 degrees east longitude.
