Patna: Former union minister and Congress Rajya Sabha MP from Bihar, Akhilesh Singh claimed that Congress will contest more seats this time than in the last Bihar assembly elections.

RJD, JDU and Congress were in a grand alliance in the 2015 assembly elections. JDU was then contesting assembly elections on 102 seats, but this time JDU is not a part of the grand alliance, Singh said.

This time there should be a division of those 102 seats in which Congress will get more seats, he added.

In the grand alliance, there are Rashtriya Janata Dal, Congress, Rashtriya Lok Samata Party, Hindustani Awam Morcha, Vikas Insan Party.

The forthcoming assembly elections in Bihar is scheduled for October-November.

In the last Bihar elections, the Congress fought 40 seats. Bihar has a total of 243 assembly seats.
