BJP MP asks Nitish to amend liquor ban policy in Bihar

BJP MP Nishikant Dubey today requested Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to amend the existing liquor ban policy in the state as it was leading to corruption and loss of revenue for the state.

New Delhi: Days after the NDA's victory in the Bihar Assembly polls, it seems the BJP has started putting pressure on Chief Minister Nitish Kumar over the liquor ban in the state.

BJP MP from Jharkhand Nishikant Dubey today Nitish Kumar to amend the liquor ban policy in the state. The MP said the ban was leading to a loss of revenue and an increase in corruption.

"Request Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to make some amendments in the state's liquor ban policy. As those who have to sell or drink managed to do so via other states. It also results in loss of revenue of to the state, impacts hotel industry and corruption in police and revenue department," Dubey said in a tweet in Hindi.

Dubey's suggestion came just two days after the NDA got a clear majority in the Bihar Assembly elections.

In November 2015, Kumar had announced a ban on the sale and consumption of liquor in the state. Kumar and his party JD(U) consider the liquor ban among the topmost achievements of their tenure in power.
