Saharsa: Sixty Muslim couples tied the nuptial knot during a mass wedding in Bihar's Bakhtiarpur on Monday.
The event was organised for the first time by ISSA foundation in Bihar to avoid lavish spending on weddings.
The couple who arrived from different places tied-knot in groups in the presence of their witnesses.
The event was organised by Trust Jamia Faizanul Quran and ISSA Foundation. The chairman of the organisation Maulana Habeeb Ahmed arrived from Gujarat to attend the event.
Maulana Habeeb said," This is the first time that we have organised an event in Bihar. We are planning to conduct next time the event for couples from all religions."
The organisers even gave beds, refrigerators, cupboard among other items as gifts to the newly-weds to start their married life.
They also served sumptuous food to the guests.
