Bihar man beaten to death by locals

An angry mob beat up a 55-year-old man to death allegedly after he opened fire at a barking dog. The man was identified as Gopal Ram. Ram allegedly fired two shots at his neighbour's barking dog, which missed and hit a minor girl.

Rohtas: In a shocking incident in Bihar's Rohtas district, a tribal man was allegedly beaten to death by a violent mob on Saturday for mistakenly shooting a 10-year-old girl.

The incident took place at the Beladhi village in Rohtas district of Bihar. Beladhi village falls under the jurisdiction of the Darihat police station.

As per reports, all of this began, when the deceased-Gopal Ram opened fired at a barking dog at neighbour's house. Gopal Ram allegedly fired two shots at the canine but the bullets did not hurt the dog. The third bullet hit Vinod Ram's daughter Bhumika Kumari on her hand.

The mishap prompted the locals to take law in their hands and they started beating the 55-year-old man.

The villagers rushed the injured girl to Sadar hospital in the district, where she is undergoing medical treatment. The 10-year-old girl is said to be out of danger. Locals claim that Gopal Ram used to often fire bullets in an inebriated condition.

On receiving information about the incident the police rushed to the spot to take the stock of the situation and sent the body for post-mortem to Sasaram Sadar hospital.

"We are investigating the matter and police have been deployed at the village to control the situation," said a police official.
