Nalanda (Bihar): Six persons were killed while 18 persons were critically injured on Sunday after a truck rammed into a roadside shop at Hilsa in Bihar's Nalanda district.
All injured persons have been admitted to a government hospital and all are undergoing treatment.
According to sources, the incident took place this afternoon when the Hilsa market was busy. Suddenly a truck coming from the Telhada tad area skidded off the road and dashed against the shop killing six persons on the spot and injuring as many as 18 people.
On being informed about the incident, the police and rescue team reached the spot and recovered the dead bodies from the scene. A large portion of the shop was completely damaged and the driver fled the spot immediately after the mishap. Traffic movement was disrupted following the accident, sources added.
Meanwhile, police have recovered ṭhe bodies and sent the injured persons to a nearby government hospital. Efforts are underway to nab the truck driver and further investigations are underway.
