Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Monday accused the Trinamool Congress as well as the opposition CPIM of trying to play communal cards in the state. Deb slammed both the parties and accused them of spewing communal disharmony.

Addressing a mammoth party rally at Kailashahar, Deb said, "An outsider party and its outsider leaders are leaving no stone unturned to woo a specific community in an attempt to create communal polarization."

Deb in an implicit attack on the TMC's governance model said, "They are struggling to control public fury centring Covid vaccination. In terms of development, Tripura is far ahead of them."

Launching a scathing attack on the CPIM, Deb said, "Those who have blatantly failed in ensuring drinking water facilities. Those who have left a big burden of debt on us, are so furious to get back into power that they don't hesitate to fuel communal tension in the state. The peace and harmony must not be hampered at any cost."

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister has welcomed 2,357 new voters to his party from several opposition parties. It is worthy to be mentioned here that thousands of people are joining the ruling BJP in the last couple of weeks only strengthening the saffron party's hand in Tripura.
