The Education Department of Assam has finally issued an order to close the primary schools. Commissioner and Secretary of the Education Department Preetom Saikia issued an order from Dispur regarding this matter.

Dispur (Assam): Amid the bewildering second wave of Covid-19 the Education Department of Assam has finally issued an order to close the primary schools on Sunday.

Commissioner and Secretary of the Education Department Preetom Saikia issued an order from Dispur regarding this matter.

According to the orders issued by the department, all the schools from pre-primary to class V in COVID-19 affected districts will remain closed wherein there are more than 100 cases of COVID-19.

The order further says that teaching will be stopped from pre-primary to class fifth until further notice.

Meanwhile, The number of COVID positive cases is gradually rising in Assam. The state recorded 876 new cases in the last 24 hours. Two deaths have been reported during the same period.

In total, Assam has done 78,07,560 COVID-19 tests till April 17. As many as 2,23,816 patients have tested positive. A total of 2,16,546 patients have been discharged so far. The death toll in the state stands at 1129. The overall recovery rate of the state is 96.75% and the percentage of death is 0.50%.
