Visakhapatnam (AP): Visakhapatnam Port handled 32.77 million tonnes of cargo during the first half of the current financial year.
Although economic activities came to standstill amid pandemic, the Port recorded only 5 per cent less compared to the last year.
Addressing a press conference, Visakhapatnam Port Trust (VPT) chairman, K Rammohan Rao said that major cargos that contributed are iron, iron ore and sugar.
He also said that there is heavy cuts in coal and allied materials compared to the last year.
It is to be mention here that VPT will be completing 87 years of its existence on October 7.
