Chitoor: Joining the fight against coronavirus, a man from Andhra Pradesh, who won a doctorate for his inventions, has developed a COVID-19 robot which can protect the medical professionals from coming in contact with the virus while treating patients.
Dr Pawan Padmanabhan, a resident of Moram near Palamaner is a school dropout who has won laurels at the national and international levels for his innovative discoveries.
Amid lockdown, when people are sitting back at home, Pawan decided to develop COVID-19 robot after knowing that medical staffs are falling prey to the virus while treating patients.
The COVID-19 robot that could reduce the chances of doctors attending coronavirus patients physically was developed at a cost of Rs 22,000.
Explaining the features of the robot, Pawan said: “It has two-way communication facility and can rotate 360 degrees. It can record videos and can be operated by doctors from a distance of 100 metres. It can be connected via tab and phone for giving commands. It can serve food and medicines to the patients. ”
"The robot is already in a trial process in Palamaner government hospital. It can be made available at a cheaper price if government co-operates," Pawan said.
The young innovator has already made more than 30 innovations under the name Pawan Empower Solutions.
