Srikalahasti: A minor girl in Andhra Pradesh filed a complaint against her parents who tried to marry her off to a 34-year-old man. The groom's parents even removed the mangalasutra from her neck in an attempt to hide the incident.
The incident happened in Vedurukuppam Mandal, Pathakunta village in Chittoor district. The parents of the girl tried to marry their 16-year-old daughter with a 34-year-old-man named Rajasekhar Reddy at Srikalahasti Temple.
Tipped off by locals, ICDS officials entered the scene. Before that, the groom's mother removed the mangalasutra from the girl's neck like nothing had happened. The minor girl complained to SI Lokesh Reddy on Thursday and named Rajasekar Reddy, his parents, relatives and also her parents.
Cops have registered a complaint and are investigating.
