Amaravati: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday alleged that the BJP-led NDA government caused the highest damage to the business community in the country in the last five years besides creating strife between various communities.

Kejriwal came to Vijayawada to take part in a series of election campaign meetings, along with his Andhra Pradesh counterpart N Chandrababu Naidu, in support of the ruling Telugu Desam Party.

Addressing a meeting of north Indians, Kejriwal claimed businesses closed shop, unemployment grew and farmers were left in distress under Prime Minister Narendra Modis rule.

"Above all, Modi created animosity between communities. We have to defeat Modi for peace to prevail in the country," he said.

Kejriwal alleged the Modi government caused the highest damage to the business community in the last five years.

"Demonetisation, GST and other policies destroyed businesses. Industries were ruined," he pointed out.

Noting that the coming elections were important not only for AP but also India, the Delhi Chief Minister asked people vto vote for Chandrababu Naidu even for Lok Sabha because TDP and many other parties were all going to play a crucial role in the next Central government.

Lavishing praise on his counterpart, Kejriwal said there was a responsibility to make Andhra Pradesh a modern and vibrant state, post-bifurcation.

"Only Chandrababu Naidu can make it modern. His past record is open. AP made strides, particularly in the field of technology under him," he noted.

He said people of Delhi and AP could fight together for securing special category status (to AP) and full statehood (for Delhi).

Accusing YSR Congress president Jagan Mohan Reddy of aligning with Modi, Kejriwal asked people to "take a wise decision" while voting.

"This is not only for the future of AP but also the country," he added.
