Andhra: Coach of Kerala Express derails in Chittoor, passengers safe

In Andhra's Chittoor, a coach of Kerala Express, which runs from Delhi to Trivandrum, derailed near Yerpedu railway station on Saturday. No injuries were reported in the incident.

Chittoor (Andhra Pradesh): A coach of Kerala Express, which runs from Delhi to Trivandrum, derailed near Yerpedu railway station in Chittoor on Saturday.

However, no passenger was injured in the incident.

"The pantry car of the train was derailed. All the passengers are safe. Officials and technical staff have reached the spot and are checking the cause of the derailment," said South Central Railway CPRO, talking to Media over the phone.

The wheel of one of the coaches (pantry car) of the Trivandrum-bound Kerala Express12626 broke while it was entering Yerpedu railway station in Chittoor district of Andhra pradesh. The site falls  under Guntakal division of South Central Railway. It falls in Gudur to Renigunta section.  There was no injuries or casualties to the passengers or the crew of the train.



The train no 12626 New Delhi-Trivandrum Express was entering the railway station when one of the wheels of pantry car broke causing minor derailment of the pantry.





An Accident Relief Train and Medical Relief Van was rushed to Yerpedu to take up restoration works.



Stranded passenger are being sent by the same train by duly detaching the derailed Pantry Car from the formation. Further, the enroute stations - Erode, Palakkad, Salem and Ernakulam - have also been alerted so as to ensure food arrangements for the passengers on board, as there would be no pantry car in the new formation.
