Italy: Juventus fans breathed a sigh of relief on Tuesday, as Cristiano Ronaldo was named on Tuesday in Juventus' squad for the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final tie with Ajax in Amsterdam.

Ronaldo netted a hat-trick as Juventus overturned a two-goal deficit to beat Atletico Madrid 3-2 on aggregate in the round of 16, but subsequently suffered a hamstring injury on international duty with Portugal and sat out the last four matches.

Interestingly, the 34-year-old also took part in training ahead of the squad's departure for Amsterdam and the first leg of their UCL quarter-final against Ajax.

After finishing runner-up twice in the last four years, Juventus signed Ronaldo - who helped Real Madrid to the title in four of the past five seasons - to take the next step and break a drought stretching back to 1996.

Meanwhile, captain Giorgio Chiellini has been ruled out with a calf injury though and Emre Can was also omitted from the matchday squad due to an ankle injury.

Juve are bidding to reach the Champions League final for the third time in three seasons.

The Old Lady failed to add a third title in European club football's premier competition to their collection though, losing the 2015 final to Barcelona before being beaten by Real Madrid two years later.
