Hyderabad: Former cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin called his suspension from Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) "illegal" and asked for the Apex Council's resignation on "moral grounds" after reports of him getting suspended from the cricket association surfaced.
"They are all tainted," the former India skipper claimed at a press conference here.
Earlier, Azharuddin's membership with HCA was cancelled and he was issued a show-cause notice after allegations of violation of rules were levelled against him.
The notice stated that Azhar's various acts of "indiscipline and misconduct" against the association violated the rules and affected its functioning following which the decision was taken.
He was elected as president of HCA in September 2019.

Sources told Etv Bharat that the cause of resentment among the members of the association was Azharuddin's style of working and taking unilateral decisions.
However, the 58-year-old quashed the allegations and asked for the council's resignation on "moral grounds". He also explained that no one in the association can conduct such a meeting without his permission.
"On moral grounds, they should resign for all these things. It's illegal. They cannot conduct a meeting without my permission. They can't just hold meeting without me. I am elected by the general body," he said.
On June 10th, the council had held a meeting where they decided to issue a show-cause notice to the former right-handed batsman.
It pointed out that he is a mentor of a private club (Northern Warriors) in Dubai which participates in a T10 cricket tournament that is unrecognised by the BCCI, among various other issues.
