Dubai: In the 29th match of IPL 2020, Chennai Super Kings batting first scored 167 for 6 in 20 overs here at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Tuesday. Riding on an 81-run partnership between Shane Watson and Ambati Rayudu and a late blitzkrieg by Ravindra Jadeja helped CSK set 168 runs target for Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Sandeep Sharma bowled a tight spell. He gave away 19 runs and took two important wickets.
Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni, earlier, won the toss and decided to bat first. However, his decision couldn't find any buyer as their in-form batsman Faf du Plessis was got out for a duck in the 3rd over, and Sam Curran was the next man to fall in the fifth over.
With CSK were reeling at 35 for 2 in five overs, Shane Watson (42) and Ambati Rayudu (41) tried their best to rebuild the innings. They shared an 81-run partnership to get Chennai past 100.
But as Khaleel Ahmed struck Rayudu's quickfire innings came to end. Rayudu hit three fours and two sixes. Watson too didn't last long as he was sent packing by T Natarajan in the 17th over.
Captain MS Dhoni later played a 21-run innnings before being dismissed by Natarajan.
Losing wickets at regular intervals, CSK were never in a position to set a moderate target for SRH. However, Ravindra Jadeja's 25 not out off 10 balls helped them to post a respectable total on the board.
Among the SRH bowlers, Sandeep Sharma, Khaleel Ahmed and Natarajan took two wickets each.
