MI restrict KKR for 133; Uthappa scores 41 off 47 balls

When Lynn slammed 41 off 29 balls Uthappa was patchy as the latter played notorious 40 runs innings off 47 balls.

Mumbai: Kolkata Knight Riders, who are looking for a playoff berth, were restricted for 133 runs by hosts of Mumbai Indians here at Wankhede Stadium on Sunday.

Putting into bat first, the visitors got off a flying start as they cruised to 49 for 1 in 6.1 overs, but disciplined MI bowlers pulled their team back in the game ripping through KKR middle-order.

Destructive Chris Lynn's dismissal saw MI thumping their authority in the game. When Lynn slammed 41 off 29 balls Robin Uthappa was patchy as the latter played notorious 40 runs innings off 47 balls, an innings which can't even be seen in ODIs these days.

Dinesh Karthik and Andre Russell's successive dismissals in back to back deliveries amplified their woes.

Later Nitish Rana tried his best to improve the scorecard by playing a blazing 26 off 13, but he didn't get any support from Uthappa.

Lasith Malinga was the pick of the bowlers as the veteran Sri Lankan pacer picked up three wickets giving away 35 runs. Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah came second and third in the list as they took two wickets each conceding 20 and 31 runs respectively. Pandya picked up wickets of Lynn and Shubman Gill, who scored 9 runs off 16 balls.

Meanwhile, Krunal Pandya conceded just 14 runs in four overs.
