Watch: Records tumbled during Afghanistan vs Ireland T20I in Dehradun

When the focus of the cricketing world shifted to India vs Pakistan World Cup match, the Twenty 20 International between Afghanistan and Ireland took the fans by storm here on Saturday in Dehradun.

Afghanistan set highest ever T20I total

Afghanistan posted the highest ever Twenty 20 International total as they notched 278 for 3 in 20 overs. The Afghans defeated Ireland by 84 runs to clinch the 3 match T20 series 2-0.

Afghanistan broke the previous record - 263 for 3 set by Australia against Sri Lanka in 2016.Zazai slammed 62-ball 162The protagonist who led the charge for Afghanistan was 20-year-old left-handed batsman Hazratullah Zazai who smashed 62-ball 162. Zazai is now placed behind Australia captain Aaron Finch in T20 highest run-scorers' chart.Zazai fell short of just 10 runs of the T20 international record set by Australia's Aaron Finch against Zimbabwe last year.Zazai and Ghani built highest ever T20I partnership Meanwhile, opening pair Zazai and Ushman Ghani built 236 runs partnership- the highest ever runs produced by a pair in a Twenty 20 International match.
